I have the honour to refer to correspondence
on the subject of the Tung Wah Hospital resting with */53656/38 your despatch No.303 dated 23rd September, 1938.

I enclose the Hansard report of a full
statement which was made in Legislative Council on 2nd
February, 1939, in answer to a question which the
Honourable Sir Henry Pollock, Kt., K.C., LL.D., at my
request asked at the meeting.

The medical Committee referred to in
paragraph ↑ (d) of that statement was appointed in
December, 1938, after considerable discussion and is
already in active existence. I enclose for your
information a copy of the Gazette Notification on the
subject.
4.
The vote for $150,000 for the year 1937,
to which your despatch has special reference, was
unanimously approved at a meeting of the Finance Committee
of the Legislative Council which immediately followed the
Council meeting of 2nd February.
5.
I trust that the steps which have now been
taken will put an end to the series of financial crises
